We will be offering a vendor walk through of our new campus building on Tuesday, Feb 14. Two time slots will be available. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, and 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The address is:

Q1: What is your E-Rate discount percentage?
A1: We qualify for a 90% discount.
Q2: What is your school enrollment?
A2: We anticipate enrollment next year to be 400 students.
Q3: Do you have a vendor specific requirement for the VoIP system?
A3: We do not require the VoIP system be a particular brand.
Q4: When will the bidding process end?
A4: We are asking that all bids be submitted by Feb 28, 5:00pm CDT by email to jcalvin@swkey.org and creynolds@swkey.org.

Q6: How many classrooms do you have on the main site and outbuildings?
A6: 11 classrooms in the main building. Currently planning two additional 4-classroom portables.
A6: UPDATE 2/15/12 We have added two, 2-room portables to our 5800 MLK Blvd location. There will now be two 4-room and two 2-room portables at this location.
Q7: Do you want the drops to be CAT5E or CAT6.
A7: Cat5e
Q8: How many drops do you estimate you will need?
A8: Estimating 296 drops required at the MLK Jr. Blvd campus.
Q9: What are you going to use the POE switches for?
A9: Power VoIP phones, wireless access points. Provide access to Voice, internet, and data access.
Q10: How many ports do you want on each switch?
A10: 48 but less if 48 ports are not needed.
Q11: Concerning software operating system and client access licenses, are you talking about the software on the servers?
A11: Yes
Q12: How many phones do you need district wide?
A12: We anticipate 60 for this coming year.
Q13: How many sites do you need broadband internet access for?
A13: Two, our Jain lane campus and our MLK Jr. Blvd. campus.
Q14: How much bandwidth do you need?
A14: We are asking for 10MB Fiber
Q15: How Many classrooms do you have?
A15: At our MLK Jr. Blvd campus, 23 including the portables; 18 at our Jain Lane campus.
Q16: How Many wiring closet will you have?
A16: 6 existing and equipped MDF/IDF at our Jain Lane location, 6 MDF/IDF at the MLK Jr. Blvd location that will need provisioning.
Q17: Do you want a receptionist phone that will show all extensions?
A17: We will want a receptionist phone that will allow them to park and forward calls. It will need to show some of the administration extensions, but not all.
Q18: How many users will need voicemail?
A18: We will want voicemail for all extensions.
Q19: Should the cable bid for MLK Jr. Blvd campus include a bid for trenching and fiber between the main building and the portables.
A19: Yes, please include that in your bid, or specifiy that it is not included.
Q20: Can you detail the functions that you will be need for the phone system. (voice mail, call forward, ect.)
A20: We desire standard features like hold, call forwarding, the ability to transfer call, have phones able to handle more than one call.
Q21: Do you want an auto attendant?
A21: Yes.
Q22: Who is providing the trenching and conduit from the main campus to portables?
A22: We are asking the vendors bidding on running the fiber between the portables and buildings on campus include trenching and conduit in their bid or specifically state it is not included.
Q23: Will the electrical or general contractor be installing any cable raceway's/pathway's above the ceiling?
A23: No.
Q24: Will the electrical or general contractor be providing conduit or "ring and string" to all of the cable locations?
A24: No.
Q25: Do you need us to include an option for Cat 5e drops for the additional phones at Jane Lane?
A25: We do not need any Cat 5e cabling installed at the Jane Lane location.
Q26: Are you looking to replace any other equipment at the Jane Lane site? Servers, switches, wireless?
A26: We will need a server to provide at least DNS/DHCP, at least one switch including 2 fiber SFPs to split off the school buildings from another organization's network. Currently there are network, POE switches sufficient for the location, however 2, 48-port switches will be out of warranty next year. The existing 5 wireless access points could be reprogrammed for a new network, or could be replaced.
