Academia de Padres/Parent Academy
The Academia de Padres/Parent Academy was developed in response to the needs of parents of children attending East Austin College Prep. The vision of the Academia de Padres/Parent Academy is to develop a learning environment for parents so they can have a greater impact on their child’s education. Activities include developing a coordinated parent network that empowers parents through personal growth and development. Throughout the school year parents are provided with informative educational workshops on a variety of topics that assist them in supporting their child’s academic growth. Curriculum topics include, but are not limited to, child development, educational advocacy, and parenting skills – each designed to maximize the role each parent plays in their child’s education. Through the Academia de Padres/Parent Academy curriculum, parents are empowered with the skills to provide their children with the support need to achieve academic success.
As needed, parents may also be connected to local resources such as social service providers, youth and adult educational opportunities, and other community-based supports to assist them in meeting the needs of their children and families. By facilitating educational workshops for parents who otherwise would not receive such support, the Academia de Padres empowers the parents of our students to create a structured environment in their home and school.
